However, this did not take away from my overall enjoyment. I really loved the world that was created for this book, it was fascinating and intricate. Varya is a Shielder within her pack and she is passionately focused on the safety of her pack as a whole. She is singleminded, fierce and dealing with a lot of trauma from her past. She meets an injured outcast wolf, Eyulf, and his existence and their relationship impact her profoundly. They must work together to help protect her home and she must figure out if she can put her love of Eyulf over her love of the pack.
