Sultry voiced evening radio personality Naomi Hendrix has received a threatening letter which her program director, Chip Evigan, has kept secret. Evigan hires private detective Rick Cahill to investigate. While engaged in the investigation, a 'favor' Cahill owes the Russian mob comes due and he must tail mob associate Peter Stone from 6 PM until midnight, when Hendrix is on the air and most vulnerable. Unable to do both jobs, Cahill asks P.I. friend Miranda to keep Hendrix safe while enlisting the aid of another friend, Moira, to help with the tail. Suspects mount in the Hendrix case, including Evigan himself, who had a past crush on Naomi. The tail on Stone proves useless as he rarely leaves his house. Cahill knows there is an ulterior motive behind the mob's request, he just needs to figure it out. Cahill is a truth at all costs kind of guy and the body count rises as suspects and witnesses enter his sphere. Rick Cahill (Blood Truth) is an engaging character, albeit not the smartest detective. Scenarios readers see elude him. He has a conscience, similar to Spenser in the Robert Parker series, and is not adverse to danger and breaking rules, if necessary, to uncover the truth. There is a lot of action, some of which is believable and some of which isn't. The mob plot seems far fetched, getting into areas that most people wouldn't think or know about. While backstory would help identify the many recurring characters and clarify Cahill's mob indebtedness, the book does stand on its own. Not on a par with Blood Truth, yet still enjoyable. In summary, I'd not go out of my way to read a Rick Cahill book, but thrust on me as this was for a journal review, I wouldn't shy away. näyttää 2/2 ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu

Rick Cahill is hired for her security, meanwhile juggling dangerous people from his past. Somehow he music do both and quickly before more people die.
I love dark thrillers and this certainly did not disappoint. The chemistry between Rick and Naomi was steamy and their attraction happened a bit too fast to actually be believable. That was the only flaw I found with the flow of the book. The suspense kept my interest right up to the very end. I loved that there were two stories in one, that was extremely exciting. ( )
