A lovely book to meander through. ( )

This was so fun to look at! It contains tons of booklists (by genre), with more than half the spines of the books hand drawn in a "stack" so you can see what the covers look like. I am glad I found this one. It has the few pages included in the journal and much, much more! ( )

Увлекательно рассмотрены буквально все пересечения книг с жизнью – лучшая экранизация, топ-10 песен известных исполнителей, написанных в честь названий книг, советы писателей и поэтов, цитаты, самые невероятные библиотеки и книжные всего мира, питомцы любимых авторов и прочие невообразимые темы – просто масса всего, сдобренного отличными иллюстрациями в удобоваримых порциях. А отправляющимся в путешествия наверняка понравится список из единственных художественных книг, необходимых для понимания почти каждой страны. ( )

My favorite parts of this were the bits about libraries and bookstores, and I would have loved more details on each of these.

I wasn't crazy about the illustrations of people (all the women have a masculine look to them) or the full-page ones of book spines that Mount is known for - sure, the spines are of different books, but it just felt like looking at the same picture over and over. And there are fifty of these pages - I counted.

While many of the books listed were bestseller, popular types with a liberal bent to them (ones I'm not interested in), I did still come away with a list of books to add to my "to be read" pile, so it succeeded in that regard! ( )

I love Jane Mount's whole thing with books. She does custom "Ideal Bookshelves" and has a previous book by the same name. Cards of themed book collections and more. This book is wonderful and it is not just because I am quoted somewhere within. It has illustrations and lists and quotes from bibliophiles around the world. It is everything a person could want in a book about books, whether or not they identify as a bibliophile themselves. Bibliophile is a great table book to gift or have at home, read part of a page or several pages at any given time. Love it! ( )
