( ) This review was written for LibraryThing Member Giveaways. 5/5 starsMystery of the Egyptian Scroll is a fun, fast-paced adventure/mystery for kids. When Zet and his sister Kat uncover strange goings on in ancient Thebes, they are drawn into a bigger mystery than they ever imagined. The rich details about life in Ancient Egypt give a fascinating glimpse into the past. This book would be a great resource for kids to learn about history. The story is a quick read, full of action and suspense that should interest even reluctant readers. Summary: Highly recommended to kids, and adults, who enjoy historical adventure and mystery stories. This review was written for LibraryThing Member Giveaways. Thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was filled with interesting bits of Egypt and the way they lived. The story itself was simple but interesting. It had a depth of knowledge and story telling that is rarely found today. I recommend this book to anyone who wants a mystery thriller story that is simple and yet detailed. A really good read.I was referred to this book by a Christian book list, so I was surprised to find Egyptian gods and goddesses freely referenced throughout and no reference to the Christian God within the story. As with most books written for young adults, I felt the children of the story took too much upon themselves and choose not to trust or worry adults in their lives by informing them of what's going on--even when doing so would be a good idea. I read this book on my Kindle as I was looking for a quick, fun read. Although I'm well past my school years and this book is aimed at probably late elementary or middle school ages, I never felt like I was talked down to or that the book went far beyond the realm of the believable. It was a fun quick read--took me about 3 hours--a great way to spend a quiet rainy day when I didn't have any thing pressing or motivation to do a whole lot. I learned a lot about ancient Egyptian culture and religion, too. ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu

But with their father gone to fight the Hyksos, times are hard. The family depends on Zet now. He must do what he can to earn a few extra copper deben--even if it means taking risks.
