I started this book for Sword and Laser, but didn't quite finish it then. But it was such a beautiful book, written so poetically. I have no words... but I loved it. Somebody give them all the awards because they deserve them That was pretty wonderful. More of a poem than a novel, though a lot of it. I wanted more detail about what was going on at first. Then I decided to relax and enjoy it and it was amazing.
Part epistolary romance, part mind-blowing science fiction adventure, this dazzling story unfolds bit by bit, revealing layers of meaning as it plays with cause and effect, wildly imaginative technologies, and increasingly intricate wordplay.
Among the ashes of a dying world, an agent of the Commandant finds a letter. It reads: Burn before reading. Thus begins an unlikely correspondence between two rival agents hellbent on securing the best possible future for their warring factions. Now, what began as a taunt, a battlefield boast, grows into something more. Something epic. Something romantic. Something that could change the past and the future. Except the discovery of their bond would mean death for each of them. No library descriptions found. |

rtc when i wake up
———
i’ve been awake for several hours now so i guess it’s time for that review...
this is how you lose the time war is a beautiful story in which two women from warring factions secretly write letters to each other and fall in love. at the end of each chapter is at least one letter, and those letters were definitely my favorite thing from this book.
this was such a creative and well-written story. i’d recommend this to anyone looking for a short, romantic read. (
