Just as lovely the second time around. Love this story. I am particularly fond of running through the jungle stories and this one is great. The alpha male all set to rescue the society princess but she is already in the process of rescuing herself. She's odd and quirky and smart but not hard and smart alecky. Moves fast, well written and well plotted. The hero and heroine spend almost the whole book on the page together. It had almost that old madcap comedy movie feel without being in anyway over the top or hokey. ( )

This book was given to me in a box of books from a networking contact who used to collect books to send to troops oversees. When I first got it, I thought it was a romance. When I started reading it, I wondered if it would be suspense or thriller. It's probably more of a romance with a suspense setting. In true romance genre fashion, the male falls almost immediately into lust with the female and the rest of the book seems to be about them trying to escape the situation that he was hired to rescue her from while first fighting, then succumbing to their lust--which in this genre eventually equates to love. Since I discovered Linda Howard a few months ago I've turned to her books as a relaxing read going to bed - interesting settings, good storylines, good writing. They are consistently good, and sufficiently different from each other while following a similar 'rescue' plot line. I looked forward to this one set in Costa Rica. I was amazed at yet another set of captivating characters, the same but different: the magnificently built men and the independent women. A genuine escapist novel! Happy to have any suggestions for similar authors Brenda Sweeney narrator. The voice she gave Jane was a little too ditzy sounding - she wasn't ditzy! but it made it fun. ( )

I read this along with the audiobook and definitely plan to re-read it soon. I'll probably enjoy it even more and up my rating. This was an exciting romantic suspense that grabbed me from the beginning. I loved all the excitement and Jane was hysterical. I'm not sure if she was ditzy or just lucky, but when things got tense, she had me giggling. Loved the chemistry between her and Grant. Poor guy. At times I could feel his frustration with her actions, but they were so perfect for each other. It was a great love on the run/jungle romance! ( )

***2nd Read - Different Version***

Still as enjoyable as the first time around. Despite being written during the "bodice ripper" era, this contemporary romantic suspense had a toehold in the future and features a sassy heroine with a strong spine. Yes, Jane still made the typical trope type of mistakes, like getting into trouble by not staying put when Grant tells her to (For shame! *sarcasm*), but I liked that she got the last word by rescuing him. Jane's not one to swoon in the face of danger, but she's still afraid of the dark. Loved how she was a walking contradiction and the way it drove Grant crazy.

A very steamy read set in the wild Costa Rican jungles. Well worth the second read!
