Having read this some years ago, my memory isn't summoning all the details, though what I recall was outstanding. Brown is a master of unique stories and this one lives up to his abilities and then some. Unlike the "Angel" books, this goes an entirely different direction engaging the reader through great characters, intrigue and the unexpected. ( )

I had already read Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons before I read Digital Fortress. I think the main reason I rate this book so low is that I had this one figured out pretty early on after recognizing some of the elements of Brown's storytelling tactics, and it was kind of a let down. The other thing is this book talks about a subject matter I have professional experience in. A lot of times, I'm able to brush off a lack of reality if the story is compelling enough. But I wasn't able to do that for this one. Others may have a much different experience. ( )

Susan non si stupisce quando viene a sapere che "Fortezza Digitale", così è stato battezzato il programma, è frutto delle ricerche di un genio dell'informatica: il giapponese Ensei Tankado, handicappato dalla nascita per gli effetti del disastro atomico di Hiroshima, che dopo essere stato chiamato negli Stati Uniti a lavorare per l'NSA ha sbattuto la porta in faccia ai suoi capi quando si è accorto che il supercomputer rischiava di trasformarsi in un nuovo Grande Fratello. I suoi intenti sono nobili, ma la sua decisione di boicottare l'operato dell'NSA, mettendo il programma in rete e permettendo a chiunque di scaricarlo, rischia di creare l'anarchia e di assicurare libertà d'azione a spie e criminali. This review is based on my second reading. The second reading of a thriller is never as good as the first because you have some memory of the first time through. That said, it is a good story, fast moving with decent action. Brown creates some momentum as he moves through his very short chapters. ( )
