New York Times bestselling author, Big Sister Emeritus, and Chief BFF Jen Hatmaker returns with another round of hilarious tales, shameless honesty, and hope for the woman who has forgotten her moxie.

In this highly anticipated book, beloved author Jen Hatmaker parlays her own triumphs and tragedies into a sigh of relief for all normal, fierce women everywhere. Whether it's the time she drove to the wrong city for a fourth-grade field trip ("Why are we in San Antonio?") or the way she learned to forgive (God was super clear: Pray for this person every day, which was the meanest thing He ever said to me. I was furious.), she offers a reminder to those of us who sometimes hide in the car eating crackers that we do have the moxie to get back up and get back out. After all, this race is not a contestâ??there is enough abundance to go aroundâ??and

  • you are not in competition with your peers,
  • your seat at the table is secure, and
  • you have indelible gifts to offer.

Each of us can choose to live undaunted "in the moment" no matter what the moments hold, and we really can lead vibrant, courageous, grace-filled lives… (lisätietoja)

This book is full of Jen Hatmaker's usual brand of charm, sarcasm, and wisdom, plus some recipes for good measure. Delightful, moving, and real. ( )

"Of Mess and Moxie" is a fun, encouraging, inspirational read. Jen is honest and funny. Reading this book felt like a good chat with a great friend. There's something good in here for everyone. If you are looking for something heavy and super spiritually intense, this is not it. But if you, like me, just sometimes need a pat on the back and a chuckle as encouragement to keep going, you will find that here.

I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. ( )

I. Love. Jen Hatmaker. She's real. She's funny. She drinks wine, feeds her kids takeout on a regular basis and binge watches whatever she wants on Netflix. She doesn't judge anyone. She questions her own beliefs and makes me feel like I can question too. Where was she when I was a struggling mother of young children and needed someone to tell me I was doing a good job even if I wasn't doing it the same way as other people did? (particularly my ex-mother in law). I hope she continues with her awesome writing. I also enjoy her weekly pod-cast featuring strong women who have done great things! It gives me hope!!! ( )

Jen Hatmaker's writing, while upbeat and relatable, is not something I can recommend anymore. She has bought into the lies of a progressive Christianity that twists the Gospel and tries to make it "relatable." The Gospel isn't meant to be relatable. It never was. The Gospel is meant to change your life, to convict you of your sin, and to move you closer to God in holiness. Jen Hatmaker would have us believe that God loves us in our sin in a way that doesn't require us to change because it's "who we are." Wrong. While I'm sure many people will look to her for hope and encouragement as they do others like her--i.e. Joel Osteen--they will not find the true Gospel here. I do not recommend this book. ( )

Jen Hatmaker believes backbone is the birthright of every woman. Women have been demonstrating resiliency and resolve since forever. They have incredibly strong shoulders to bear loss, hope, grief, and vision. She laughs at the days to come is how the ancient wisdom writings put it.
