The style of the drawings is often humorous, though in no way demeaning to the content, but the intent is to teach rather than to entertain. The original Chinese text of each story appears vertically in the margin. Reading Zen stories over and over again with slight variations, interpreted by different translators and authors and illustrators, is a helpful way to see new things in them and gain insight into the messages they contain, so I enjoy having this and several other versions on hand. Incredibly lucid, clever rendering of basic tenets of Zen, and of Zen koans, through the medium of the comic strip. Non-threatening to the novice, a delight for the more advanced practioner. The artwork is excellent, often mixing the author's clever comic style with gorgeous, realistic drawings of Buddhist statuary. näyttää 5/5 ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu
Inspired by the earliest and core texts of Zen Buddhism,Zen Speaksdistills the philosophy and wisdom of Zen in a series of illustrated Chinese character cartoon panels that are irreverently humorous and profoundly wise. Kirjastojen kuvailuja ei löytynyt. |

Ho odiato doverlo restituire alla biblioteca: basta, me lo compro.
Da avere, spulciare, aprire a caso, guardare e riguardare mille volte.
Disegni bellissimi.
E lo zen è lì, perfettamente assimilabile, immediato.
Non ci devi mica pensare, ovvio.
Ti entra dentro, e basta.
