In the New York Times bestseller Everything All at Once, Bill Nye shows you how thinking like a nerd is the key to changing yourself and the world around you. Everyone has an inner nerd just waiting to be awakened by the right passion. In Everything All at Once, Bill Nye will help you find yours. With his call to arms, he wants you to examine every detail of the most difficult problems that look unsolvable-that is, until you find the solution. Bill shows you how to develop critical thinking skills and create change, using his "everything all at once" approach that leaves no stone unturned. Whether addressing climate change, the future of our society as a whole, or personal success, or stripping away the mystery of fire walking, there are certain strategies that get results- looking at the world with relentless curiosity, being driven by a desire for a better future, and being willing to take the actions needed to make change happen. He shares how he came to create this approach-starting with his Boy Scout training (it turns out that a practical understanding of science and engineering is immensely helpful in a capsizing canoe) and moving through the lessons he learned as a full-time engineer at Boeing, a stand-up comedian, CEO of The Planetary Society, and, of course, as Bill Nye The Science Guy. This is the story of how Bill Nye became Bill Nye and how he became a champion of change and an advocate of science. It's how he became The Science Guy. Bill teaches us that we have the power to make real change. Join him in... dare we say it... changing the world.… (lisätietoja)

Excellent book. I like Nye’s writing style. A lot of what he wrote here makes sense. ( )

This was a tough one. At first, it was a mildly interesting hodgepodge of stories from Bill's youth. It was a struggle. However, I kept going. I'm glad I did. I tend to have a bleak outlook on the future of this world and humanity, but Bill is hopeful. That hopefulness is good to read and, I believe, the ultimate point of the book.

Stick with it, and you might just end up believing that we can, indeed, change the world. ( )

Corny, nerdy, boorish and worthy of a solid 2 1/2 stars. But hey, it's Bill. ( )

Re: Everything All At Once
Dear Mr. Nye,
I am listening to Beethoven on Pandora as I write this and while I finished your book. I start with that as a sort of reflection on modern technology and how we are able to listen to anything or anyone at any given moment. Reading your words remind me to appreciate how far we have come.

I liked what you said about the Greatest Generation – that they did not mean to be great, they just worked with the hand they were dealt. If each generation following, continues to think critically about the hand they are dealt, I too believe we can really change the world.

I watched you on television as a child and watched re-runs of Bill Nye: The Science Guy recently while I checked out Bill Nye Saves the World. I say “checked out” but what I really mean is I have watched every episode produced. I ‘adit’ there (darn…I think you’re better at puns) because your televised vision is the passage way for my ongoing admiration. I continue to learn from and be inspired by you.

I think anyone who picks up this book will be challenged to think outside of the box and reflect on humanity as a whole. To reevaluate everything all at once.

Best,
ANS

Bill Nye wants us to use what he calls the Nerd Mindset to tackle the worlds big problems. The book covers topics from how to tie you shoes to the issue of Climate Change.

As a Nerd born and raised, little of the book was new to me. His discussion of GMOs was well informed and detailed, and while I agree with him, there is no evidence the GMOs are dangerous in and of themselves, I regretted that he did not include any discussion on the patent law aspect of the debate, which is where my concern is.

As read by the author, it was a fun read, and one of those books that lays the foundation of future rumination and ideas. ( )
