Chad is a gay paramedic with a very close family. Hollywood is Chad's brothers straight best friend and another . When he causes a fire in his apartment (which was a scene that made me chuckle), he has to find another place to stay for a bit. Chad offers him a spare room in his apartment. The problem is that Chad has had a crush on Hollywood for years, but Hollywood thinks that Chad doesn't like him because he avoids him. Then they finally spend time together, they become friends and Hollywood starts to notice Chad.
A lot of this book revolves around Hollywood coming to terms with his attraction -> feelings -> relationship with Chad. He is scared to come out, he is worried that it isn't real, he is afraid of how his father and others will react. There is a lot of self-sabotage by Hollywood in this, however it really seemed like his struggle was realistically depicted. It made sense how he would be so confused. I really felt for Hollywood as he struggled with all of this. Chad was wonderful. He was patient, until he wasn't and then I couldn't even blame him because his heart was getting broken. Seeing these guys overcome all of the challenges put in front of them (including those they imposed on themselves) was very fulfilling. I really enjoyed this book. I think it is one that I would re-read again.
Although this is book 3 in the series, I think it was written well as a standalone. The other books in the series are M/F books revolving around Chad's brothers. I don't tend to read M/F books so I didn't read those. I didn't feel lost reading this, however. I thought this was written well where I got to understand the other characters, but didn't need the other books to do so.
I just LOVE this cover. It would be great just from the stance of the guys alone, but add in the fact that it is Matt and Cam who are married in real life..that multiplies the sexiness by 100. ( )
