Kevin Henkes' "Egg" is an adorable and fun book that is great for children. The repetition of "egg, egg, egg," "crack, crack, crack" is fun both to read and to be read aloud for children. The green egg not hatching at the same time as the other's allows the reader to ask questions and wonder what will be inside. The book illustrates that even though they don't look the same, they can still play and be friends as if they did. The book gives a great message of friendship and helpfulness and I think it was a great read. ( )

I had mixed feelings about this book. I liked this book because the illustrations were bright and simple. For example some of the pages just had an egg on them but the egg was a bright color so still attention grabbing. The illustrations basically tell the story and the words briefly describe what is happening in the pictures. I also liked the plot even though it was simply an egg having trouble cracking so it gets some help to crack. I did not like this story because language pattern was very repetitive in an annoying way. One example of this is when the book repeats "egg egg egg egg egg egg egg". The message of this story is that even though others might look different, they still get lonely and everyone needs a friend. ( )
