New York Times bestselling author and former NFL player Tim Green tells a heartfelt and moving story about a deaf boy's journey to change how others see him--both on and off the football field. Perfect for fans of Mike Lupica. Landon Dorch wants to be like everyone else. But his deafness and the way he talks have always felt like insurmountable obstacles. But now he finally sees his chance to fit in. Bigger and taller than any other seventh grader in his new school, Landon plans to use his size to his advantage and join the school's football team. But the same speech problems and the cochlear implants that help him hear continue to haunt him. Just when it looks like Landon will be left out of football for good, an unlikely friend comes along. But in the end only Landon can fight his way off the bench and through a crowded field of bullies bent on seeing him forever left out.… (lisätietoja)

The book Left Out by the famous sports books writer, Tim Green is a great read for most people. By most people, I mean people that are interested in sports especially football, or even normal readers that read on the daily or close to every day.

For me, this book was a good read. It is a comeback story for a kid who doesn't have the anger to play on an offensive line for his middle school and then one of his friends' uncles, who plays in the NFL, coaches him up to use his full strength and his size on the offensive line. The book is not very long or anything, it is about 350 pages and the chapters are short so if you only read for like 20 minutes a day, the chapters are short enough that you will almost always leave off your reading in a good spot. Tim Green is also a good writer by showing details throughout the book by describing enough objects and actions and also giving enough context to the book to understand what is happening. Overall, to me, I believe that this book's theme is action to everyday things such as going to school and going to practice.

Overall I believe that the book Left Out by Tim Green is a good read for most. If someone does not like this book, i would only think they are too young to understand the book or not interested in sports to understand. One thing I like about the book is that it has good detail when the action is going on, but one thing I dislike is that the book's first few chapters are kinda boring to read. The book in my opinion is a great short read, and fully packed with action happening throughout the book. Most of the average readers should enjoy this read. ( )

All Landon Dorch has ever wanted was to be like everyone else. But his deafness and the way he talks have been obstacles all his life. In Bronxville, football reigns supreme, and what could be better for a hopeful lineman desperate to gain friends? But the same problems continue to haunt him. At best, his teammates keep their distance, and football proves harder than he thought. Just when it looks like Landon will be left out for good, star player Brett Bell becomes an unlikely friend. But in the end, only Landon can fight his way off the bench.

Landon Dorch wanted nothing more than to be like everyone else. Landon is bigger and taller than anyone in his 7th grade class. He decides to join the football team to use his size to his advantage. However, he still had the speech problems and he still had his implants that allow him to hear. Landon was originally benched until getting help from a star player on the team. Does Landon ever fight his way off the bench. This book is a great way of showing that kids with disabilities can still participate in normal activities like their peers. It also shows a good example of being kind to others despite your status. The star player on the team could've easily not worried about Landon, but they became friends and he helped Landon gain a lot of opportunities. I recommend this book for topics of inclusion and treating everyone the same, ( )
