This is a charming book for kids. It gives facts about the critters and then gives a quiz to answer in a multiple choice fashion. The photography is so inviting with bold colors. I cannot wait to read it to my young grandsons at Christmas time and possibly let them keep it as a resource book.

A good mixture of gross and cool. Educational and written in a fun, no-commitment format. Each chapter starts with a hook and a trivia question (answered at the end of the chapter). I'd say this is best for the upper-elementary through middle school crowd. ( )

This is a very well thought out book. There is an introduction, 6 chapters, a bibliography and an author section. This great division of sections allows for this book to be read in pieces. Very interesting photos and not an over load of dialogue. The questions as multiple choice encourages the reader to proceed through the section
I'm not sure how many kids would know about Shakespare.

I read this with my four year old nephew and he LOVED it! The pictures are amazing quality. There's just enough detail in the writing to be informative while also being humorous and quirky enough to engage a younger audience. I think it would be great for any child who loves the outdoors, loves bugs, or just loves weird stuff in general. Super fun book! ( )

This is a fun, colorful book full of actual photographs of actual creatures. The title Crooked Creatures focuses on animals and insects that have unique adaptations such as stealing, bullying, ganging up to cause mayhem, loud, disturbing creatures, and mimicking other animals.

The copy of the I received is about 6 1/2 by 6 1/2 inches. There are two pages on each animal before turning the page and learning about a new creature.

My 5th grade daughter enjoyed looking at the photos and reading about some of these strange animals. This book would be a terrific addition to any science classroom or for anyone interested in our unique animal and insect world! I received a complimentary copy via Librarything Early Reviewers. ( )
