What a loss that Shel Silverstein is no longer around to make us all see the world though his perspective. ( ![]() I read the book when I was younger and it never really made sense to me. Not a big Silversteain fan, but I remember eventually reading through all of this as a kid because I DO like to see words arranged in unexpected ways. Real poetry, for all ages, understandable, often deep. Shel Silverstein has put together a wonderful collection of poetry in this book, appealing to all ages. Some are longer, some short, but every poem is entertaining and clever. I admire this author's creative imagination and his ability to think young. Some of my favorite poems from this book include the following: The Bagpipe Who Didn't Say No, True Story, Sick, Lester, My Rules, The Edge of the World, Love, What's in the Sack, and The Land of Happy. This book has many fun poems for anyone of any age to enjoy.
There's some nice, lively stuff in here, good for reading aloud on a sleety weekend afternoon. Just don't make it the only book of verse on the children's shelves. Sisältyy tähän:Laajennettu täällä:PalkinnotNotable Lists
A boy who turns into a TV set and a girl who eats a whale are only two of the characters in a collection of humorous poetry illustrated with the author's own drawings. Kirjastojen kuvailuja ei löytynyt. |
