This book is an easy read for children and introduces them to Louisiana's history and the aspects of Louisiana. The book provides pictures along with captions explaining the pictures. There is also a glossary in the back of the book to help readers understand and review the words. However, the book does not provide full detail into Louisiana's history and just provides brief overview. Welcome to a land where its size and shape changes every year! Welcome to a land where pirates can be considered heroes! Welcome to a place where it's people are as interesting, varied, and "spicy" as the ingredients in its famous gumbo! Welcome to Louisiana! Read this book to learn all about Louisiana, including history, fun facts, and even how to make some gumbo of your own! näyttää 3/3 ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu

The major drawback with this book is the fact that it is too simplistic. It is great for young children but does little to support classroom instruction. The pictures and information presented is mostly accurate. A potential use for this book could be starting a debate on the state of the environment. There is a recipe for gumbo in the back of the book which can be used as a hook in a Louisiana Studies classroom. There is no information about the author present. This book needs a lot more instructional support and should not be used alone in the classroom. ( )
