Alexander The Great was born in Macedonia. His father Philip was never supposed to be king since he wasn’t the oldest yet the oldest brother died which gave him the throne early. Philip married Olympias and they had a child named Alexander. Later know as Alexander The Great. When Alexander grew up Philip remarried but Olympias made sure Alex remained at her side no matter what. He had an older brother but still was determined to become king when his father died. When Alex was he got his 1st horse named Bucephalas worth 13 silver talents. Talents were 6000 drachmas worth, so a skilled hard worker could work 100 years and finally afford this horse. Philip refused but Alex tamed Buce (that’s what I’m calling him) and Buce only let Alex ride him until he was 30 when Buce was killed in battle. Alex personally led the funeral and later named a city after him.

I liked this book because it told me a bunch of facts about Alex. Stuff I didn’t know and wanted to know, “Boom!” right there in my face. I read the whole way through because I was very interested in what was happening. I especially liked Buce. I respected Alex for the deeds he did. It even had time to add some facts about Aristotle in there. I enjoyed this book I hope you do too! ( )

This book is a biography of Alexander and what he did in Greece. This book has great features, for example it has little facts here and there plus at the bottom of each page there is a timeline to help tell his story. This book is great for children because it won't overwhelm them with a lot of facts and history. ( )
