A very good ending overall. I keep hesitating between 4 and 5 stars on this because it's so close to being excellent while not quite getting there, but I do appreciate what Riordan was trying to do, and overall it's a good book. I really think it's awesome that Alex kissed Magnus while masc, and I'm really happy that relationship happened.

"Trials of Apollo" is better, though. If you like these, or want similar writing and are perfectly okay with reading about the Greeks and Romans and a few other pantheons that aren't Norse, those are in the same universe and a very good read. (

A satisfying end to the trilogy. It wraps up nicely, but still leaves some room for short stories in the future. I LOVED reading about Percy and Magnus interacting. This book was more of a straight up adventure, rather than a mystery/adventure. I did feel less compelled to read it quickly because of that. Everything that the heroes need to do is laid out pretty much at the beginning and then they just, ya know, go about doing what they need to do. I prefer when there is some sort of mystery or clues that they need to solve/decipher through out the book. (

Compared to the final books of Rick Riordan's other series this one was a bit of a let down. It really didn't feel any where near as climatic and the final chapter felt too short and really rushed. Hopefully we'll see more of Magnus and the gang because there is certainly more to tell, however, from a mythology perspective I'm not really sure where it could go next. (

Very enjoyable. The author does a good job of incorporating many Norse mythologies in a easily digestible manner. The characters are well rounded and the plot and occasionally snark are entertaining. Recommended for anyone who enjoys: young adult fiction, mythology, adventure. (

There really wasn't anything spectacular about this conclusion to the Magnus Chase trilogy. As a whole, I wasn't wowed by writing. The idea was good but the middle school humor and irreverent mockery of the Norse gods and mythology were a bit much in my opinion. Riordan obviously did a lot of research on the subject which I applaud but the execution was a miss. I didn't hate it but I didn't particularly like it either. As I think I stated on my reviews of the previous two books in the series, if I didn't always feel compelled to finish a series I wouldn't have kept reading it.

If you like mythology and middle school-type humor you'll probably like this series. As always, happy reading! 📚
