I remain captivated by this story, and the sequel filled all I hoped and wanted. ( )

Once again, I am impressed with Graudin's writing and creativity. Starting right where Wolf by Wolf left off, Yael (a/k/a not Adele) is dancing with Adolf Hitler in this alternative history book where the Nazis won WWII, when she shoots him. Using her burden/gift, she shapeshifts to escape the celebration ball, but is followed by twice victor of the Axis motorcycle tour, Luka Lowe, who accidentally gets them captured. Yael and Luka's relationship, and the tribulations of Adele and Felix Wolfe's family are complex, but satisfying as is the tension between the Nazi regime and the Resistance. Every bit as good a writer as Laini Taylor, I hope more people discover Ryan Graudin. Well worth the read, but start with the first book. ( )

I felt this book was better than the first, mainly because it was less predictable and I genuinely didn't know how it was going to end. Yael is a great character and I think she develops quite a bit through this book. Her relationship with Luka felt natural while not being an overwhelming plot point. I thought the pacing of the book worked well within the setting and we get to learn a lot more about the other characters backstories which I found really interesting ( )

This series is beautiful. So significant, with gorgeous characters and compelling, pulse-pounding plot lines. I highly recommend. ( )
