This may seem like a kid's book, but if you like adventure and mythology, you ought to go out right now and pick up this series. Percy Jackson is not your ordinary kid. Strange things happen to him on a regular basis, say for instance, his math teacher trying to kill him. He makes his way to Camp Half Blood where other demigods go for summer camp and discovers that he is the son of Poseidon with abilities to control salt water situations. But time is running out. Someone has stolen Zeus' master lightening bolt and a war between the gods is about to be unleashed. Percy Jackson is a 12-year-old boy branded as a trouble maker. While attending Yancy Academy, yet another boarding school he's been sent off to, something crazy happens. On his field trip, Mrs. Dodds the teacher he loathes turns into a creature he has never seen before. When all is said and done, no one acts like they knew what happened or who Mrs. Dodds was. This leads Percy on a fantastical journey as he discovers he is a demigod, searches for someone special, and finally figures out who his dad is. His quest and adventures as a demigod are only beginning in this first book of the series. This book was different from other books cause you know the books i have read are stories of Zues children but it was of Posiedon. I was kinda expecting Zues but it turned to be Posiedon. This book is good. The thing i didnot like is the ending. The book ended when one adventure completed. You could just give us some suspense but putting some villain at the end so we are still interested in it. Anyway i finished the series it is great
"The Lightning Thief" is perfectly paced, with electrifying moments chasing each other like heartbeats, and mysteries opening out in sequence. The action never feels gratuitous; it draws its depth from the myths at its source. Riordan's fast-paced adventure is fresh, dangerous, and funny. Overall a 5/5 and would recommend it to anyone, and everyone, who hasn't read it. (
