I am always delighted when my favorite author(s) take a side character or two and flesh out a delightful novella about them. This allowed us to take a sneak peek into Dali and Jim as characters, and into their romance, and now I’m an even bigger fan! Especially of Dali! Dali isn’t certain where her relationship with Jim is going. Also, she has her meddling mother to deal with. And this meat-eater thing? Ugh. (so funny!) When a curse strikes a member of the community, Dali must use her magic to find out who’s behind it. A great short story! Please excuse typos/name misspellings. Entered on screen reader. Honestly, reading it from the Night Shift anthology, but I'm going to read and rate only this novella. That's why I selected this format, even if it hasn't been released yet. 4.5 stars. When I log in with my computer, I shall write a beautiful review about it, because Jim and Dali (ahem, IA) deserve it! Spreading the love for those two! I missed this series so much..need to keep reading :) Ilona Andrews is one of my favorite authors and the Kate Daniels series is my favorite of all the books that the husband/wife duo write. The writing style is fast paced and engaging and the characters are completely believable despite the fantastical elements that surround all the books. These books are a must read for me and I eagerly devour them and count the months until the next one arrives. I love that despite the occult and romance leanings of these books there is still a generous dose of humor. I highly recommend the Kate Daniels series. ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu

HTML:#1 New York Times bestselling author Ilona Andrews once again pulls readers into the dark and dangerous world of the Kate Daniels novels in this reader favorite, previously published in the anthology Night Shift... Shapeshifting tigress Dali Harimau may be a powerful healer and magic user, but she's far from what might be called "normal". She dislikes the violence and bloodshed that are a way of life for most of her kind, even going so far as to become a vegetarian. The last thing she wants is trouble... Jim Shrapshire is an original, hardcore badass. A jaguar shifter, he's been tasked with keeping Atlanta's Cat Clan in line, which he does with swift and lethal force when necessary. His only soft spot is for the petite Dali, whose kindness he calls upon when he is injured. When Dali is approached by a desperate woman whose grandmother has vanished, Jim is concerned enough to help investigate. But what they find may just be the end of them??an enemy whose skill in the dark arts is matched only by their willingness to kill anyone in their way... Kate Daniels series #6.5 or 7.5 depending on list. Paranormal urban fantasy suspense. Originally published in the Anthony Night Shift.
Shapeshifter tigress Dali Harimau is a healer and magic user but doesn’t like the violence and bloodshed that is typical of her world. Jim Shrapshire is a jaguar shifter. It’s his job to keep Atlanta’s Cat Clan in line. He’s not afraid to use lethal force when necessary and in his world, it’s often standard protocol. When Dali is approached by a desperate woman, Jim knows he will do whatever is needed to keep Dali safe.
Fast moving episode of chasing and fighting, killing and surviving. It’s bloody and brutal and part of this world, although it seems more so in this novella. Maybe because I’m used to a deeper story of familiar characters in the longer books in the series. There is a romance here too that is the focus of the pair when they have time off from all the interruptions. ( )
