The Other Side of Nowhere: Wildlife Photography from Northwest Colorado

This is a beautiful book with some wonderful photography of animals and Mother Nature. Some of the colorful photographs with animals in them even appear to come to life to the naked eye. A few of the animals appear to jump right off the page. I used to live in Colorado, which gave this book immediate appeal to me, plus the fact that the photos are mostly animals. Max Allen does a great job of catching the animals in action, whether it is running, fighting with another critter or in flight. The author obviously took some time not to mention endless amount of patience to get some of the shots perfect enough to shoot and the end result is beauty in each photo. He tells you how he caught the photo, what camera settings were used, and the background of many of the photos. The book does have a slightly amateurish feel to it, but other than that, I love this book. The sunsets and visuals are particularly appealing.
If you’re into photography, wildlife, or know someone that does, I strongly recommend this book as a purchase for yourself, or as a gift. It truly is a thing of beauty. You or the recipient of this book will return to it time after time to admire the animal and nature photos inside.
