An ounce of courage. A split-second leap of faith. Together, they propel two young women to chase a new life--one that's reimagined from what they might have become. In turn-of-the-century America, a young girl dreams of a world that stretches beyond the confines of a quiet life on the family farm. With little more than her wit and a cigar box of treasures to call her own, Mable steps away from all she knows, seeking the limitless marvels of the Chicago World's Fair. There, a chance encounter triggers her destiny--a life with a famed showman by the name of John Ringling. A quarter of a century later, Lady Rosamund Easling of Yorkshire, England, boards a ship to America as a last adventure before her life is planned out for her. There, the twenties are roaring, and the rich and famous gather at opulent, Gatsby-esque parties in the grandest ballrooms the country has to offer. The Jazz Age has arrived, and with it, the golden era of the American circus, whose queen is none other than the enigmatic Mable Ringling. When Rosamund's path crosses with Mable's and the Ringlings' glittering world, she makes the life-altering decision to leave behind a comfortable future of estates and propriety, instead choosing the nomadic life of a trick rider in the Ringling Brothers' circus. A novel that is at once captivating, deeply poignant, and swirling with exquisite historical details of a bygone world, The Ringmaster's Wife will escort readers into the center ring, with its bright lights, exotic animals, and a dazzling performance that can only be described as the greatest show on earth!"-- "What is revealed when you pull back the curtain of the greatest show on earth?"--… (lisätietoja)

Excellent historical story that draws you in!

The characters are well thought out and the story moves full circle. The only thing that I was not a fan of is the flipping chronology. Just a personal preference. Highly recommend. ( )

Kristy Cambron has become one of my favorite authors, so I was pleased with the opportunity to read and review The Ringmaster's Wife. I found it fascinating, to read this aspect of history, an aspect I probably wouldn't normally consider. Another well crafted story. My mother enjoyed it as well. ( )

"The Ringmaster's Wife" was another captivating read by Kristy Cambron, who is becoming a favourite author of mine. I adored the rich descriptions of the Big Top in the 1920s with its glamour, magic, jealousies and vagabond lifestyle. The author's attention to detail, history and setting brought the book alive.

Mabel and John, and Rose and Colin were fabulous protagonists and I found myself caring for them deeply, especially Rose, the daughter of an English aristocrat who left the restrictions of her life to become a circus star.

The scene that touched my heart was when Colin played the violin for Rose to help her overcome her nerves being in the centre ring for the first time. It was truly touching and brought tears to my eyes.

My one complaint about this book was the parallel stories. In other books I've read by this author, they have been a strength but, this time they did not work. The time the changes between time periods were choppy and the stories were too close together. In fact, they had merged by the end of the book.

However, despite this, "The Ringmaster's Wife" was an entertaining read and I loved being transported into the life of the Ringling Brothers' Circus. ( )

This fictional story is mainly focuses on two characters, Mabel Ringling and Rosamund Easling.

Both women chose a very adventurous life with the circus. Mabel marries John Ringling and Rosamund becomes a horseback rider who does amazing stunts on horseback.

Most of the characters in this story are looking for a fresh start in life. They want life to be more than it was for them, more than it would be if they continued status quo.

The story felt slow at times, but stick with it. This isn't a circus story with a million twists and turns and grand reveals. This is a story about people who are trying to life their dreams, who life lives with faith, compassion and kindness. I liked the tone of this story and the ideals of forgiveness and fresh starts.

Loved this book. Have an interest in the Ringlings and their connection to Sarasota, and of course the circus, so felt like I was along for the ride. It's a fictional account of John and Mabel's wonderful life as well as that of the circus and it's people, particularly Lady Rosamund who joins the circus at the behest of Colin Keary, who was a right hand man of Ringling's and tasked with running the circus. He found Rosamund and her Arabian horse performing in England. The book and the lives of the two couples evolve, with a focus on the late 1920's. I listened to this book and Enjoyed it from the first page to the last. It's a feel good book. ( )
