( ) Yr 7 - Yr 8 The daughter of an artist and a scientist, and your own interesting self, Millie. What more could you need?" But Millie isn’t sure that Tom, her mum’s boyfriend, is right about that. A new town, a school project due, an enemy called Tayla, a boy with the initials RH and Tom himself. It’s all too much even for an interesting girl like Millie. But as her father says, change is needed, and sometimes it’s the biggest changes that make us who we are. Millie and the Night Heron is a gentle, lyrical and moving tale from award-winning author Catherine Bateson which reminds us all to stop and remember the important things in life. Millie’s mother is an artist and her dad is scientist (living overseas in London). After the other family they share a house with (Sheri & Mitchell) move out when Sheri falls in love with the awful “Pig’s Trotter”, Millie’s mum gets a job teaching in a TAFE at a country town. There Millie’s mum falls in love with Tom while Millie has problems of her own dealing with the awful bully Tayla at her new school and being in love herself with a boy know only as RH. A great sentimental, hopeful story about love and friendship and happiness. p.91 – 96 to “tomorrow”.Millie discovers 2 of everything in the flat after she’s been to a sleep over & she rings her mates ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu
