Edited by David Platt, Daniel L. Akin, and Tony Merida, this new commentary series, projected to be 48 volumes, takes a Christ- centered approach to expositing each book of the Bible. Rather than a verse-by-verse approach, the authors have crafted chapters that explain and apply key passages in their assigned Bible books. Readers will learn to see Christ in all aspects of Scripture, and they will be encouraged by the devotional nature of each exposition. Projected contributors to the series include notable authors such as Russell D. Moore, Al Mohler, Matt Chandler, Francis Chan, Mark Dever, and others. Kirjastojen kuvailuja ei löytynyt. |

My rating is 4 stars.
The Old Testament book of Ecclesiastes is packed with much wisdom and visuals that can be unpacked to be able to understand and apply in our daily lives. The commentary is another helpful aid in studying the writing of Solomon’s wisdom gained from all he saw or did in his lifetime. The authors use a little too many references or summations based on music or movies. I prefer understanding the historical timeframe, ancient people and religious society at the time Solomon was alive.
There is much I can and did appreciate in what the authors shared along with the questions at the end of the chapters that would help for small group or personal use. While it’s true the authors mainly wrote to help pastors teach Biblical truths, let’s not forget that we are all called to be Bereans and can use the commentary too.
While there aren’t many chapters in Ecclesiastes, which were added later, there is much wisdom that we can learn in 12 chapters. I hope you spend time seeing Jesus in the Book of Ecclesiastes and come away changed because of having spent time with Him!
