Quick & Dirty: An international pop star aka “Justin Bieber” finds love in this fast paced, steamy romance.

The Review:

Pure Wicked is the story of a “Justin Bieber”-esque pop star who finds love during a terrible moment in his life and career. This story is a novella off of the Wicked Lovers series and also a part of the 1001 Dark Nights. I will say that the romantic scenes are quite steamy but there aren’t really any BDSM elements to this story, for which the Wicked Lovers series seems to be known for. Also, the couple falls for each other hard and fast which means there is kind of a crazy ending.

Jesse McCall has had a terrible and tragic night. He decides he needs to hide away from the spotlight for a while because of the seriousness of the situation. He even goes so far as to change his appearance so that no one will recognize him. Jesse stops for dinner in a small Texas town and sees the saddest, most beautiful woman he has ever seen.

Bristol Reece has some family issues and welcomes Jamie. *cough* I mean Jesse’s help to get her mind off of the unsettling family event. She has also decided that she is done with relationships. She wants some fun and decides a one night stand is something she needs.

Pure Wicked is a one night stand that begins in lies and through passion and intimacy becomes something much, much more. This novel is a heavy dose of Insta-love, so if you don’t like that then you won’t like this read. The events take place in less than a week’s time, the couple actually only spend a weekend together so hence the very fast relationship.

Jesse is not really in a good place when the novella begins but he is determined to turn his life drastically around. He sees that he can do that with Bristol. Jesse isn’t exactly good with relationships so the fact that he dives into this relationship with Bristol so fast is sexy but a bit off putting. I just can’t expect a guy like that to change everything about himself even though I really want to believe. Also, in the beginning when he is compared to the Biebs I just couldn’t think of him as sexy for the first half of the story. (Other readers may not have that problem.)

Bristol owns a bakery/restaurant in her little hometown where reputation is everything. She can’t be known as a whore or no one will eat there. Old Maid isn’t much better either but she would rather that than anything. And just as she says she is done with relationships she jumps head first into one. Overall, I did like Bristol and how she reacted to Jesse initially lying to her, but her really quick use of the “L” word may turn some readers away.

Overall, Pure Wicked is one of those dreamy, quick HEA love stories. As a whole, I really did like how the story came together. The writing was excellent. I have not read any other books in this series but I would like to go back and check out this steamy series.

Notable Scene:

He glanced around, then cocked his head in thought. “It’s you.”

She smiled and shut the door behind them, flipping on the overhead lights. “Yeah?”

“Comfortable, happy, unvarnished. I like it.”

“Thanks.” He seemed to get her, and that did Bristol’s heart a world of good. Hayden had hated this place. He liked things grander and more formal, not an eclectic grouping of her favorite things. He called antiques “recycled junk.” “But you didn’t come all the way to Lewisville to comment on my décor, right?”

“No.” He turned to her, his hands suddenly engulfing her hips, his stare drilling down into her eyes. “I did not.”

“So what did you come to do?” she challenged.

He gave her a panty-melting grin as he pulled her closer, fitting her flush against his body where she could feel every inch of him. “Make you glad you let me follow you home.”

Bristol swallowed and lifted her face to him. “Are you finally going to kiss me?”

“Eager?”

She gave him a coy shrug. “A little.”

“Let’s see if we can make that a lot.” He took her face in his hands.
