The Kansas Relays: Track and Field Tradition in the Heartland is the first book devoted to the rich history of this classic track carnival. It also is an indispensable reference book, featuring seven appendixes, and at the end of each Part III chapter a thorough list of Olympians who have competed at the Relays, including Jayhawk greats like Al Oerter and Jim Ryun as well as visitors such as Maurice Greene, Joe Dial and Bershawn "Batman" Jackson. After 86 years, iconic Memorial Stadium passes the baton to Rock Chalk Park in 2014 as the site of the Relays.
