Marketing Beef

This book left me so confused. The characters didn't seem like a good match for each other, and there were a lot of tertiary characters for a novella of this size. But the weirdest bit was my failure to realize the use of the billboards as a plot device because...who does that? What a strange way to flirt with/proposition someone. I know this was a free story submission, but I've never before overlooked the entire plot of a work because it was odd/opaquely written/I'm just that dim. Such a strange experience. ( )
