Here I've finished up Book Four in Live from Brentwood High, a ChristFic YA series from the '90s. Another quick and enjoyable read.

It was interesting watching the gang of teenaged characters have the chance to broaden their perspectives, learn a lesson in empathy, and realize some of the preconceived notions they didn't know they had about disabled people. Including notions about a friend of theirs they like, care about, and see all the time.

Now, some points in the story are quite repetitive, and the way the book handles the main issue is a little dated. (I read the original 1995 edition and don't know if the rereleased edition of the book has any updates.) Granted, I realize I'm viewing the story through my eyes as a nondisabled person, and there could be some aspects that I missed.

The book also includes a Home Living class and teen pregnancy subplot—some of which I found humorous and some that I didn't particularly care for. But I'll leave that alone.

My nostalgic side is a little sad I've only got two more books left in the series. I plan on getting to them sooner rather than later. ( )

A very enlightening look into the life of someone who is differently abled along with some good ideas of how to interact with that person so as to make him/her feel included. ( )
