Molested as a child and forced into prostitution by her drug-addicted mother, Samantha Miller learned at an early age that men were not to be trusted. Being constantly preyed upon taught her to be a predator. Her target was women- specifically, straight or married women. As the headliner at a local strip club, Samantha capitalized on the gifts she was cursed with. In turn, her life quickly spiraled down a dangerous path of violence, seduction, and exploitation. When Sasha is brought on as the new bartender, she becomes Samantha's newest target. The last thing Samantha anticipated was falling in love. Can Samantha heal from her abusive past, or will she always be wounded? -- adapted from back cover Kirjastojen kuvailuja ei löytynyt. |

Wounded very quickly draws your attention, and you find yourself immediately sympathizing with Samantha Miller, the main character in the book. Sam, as her friends call her, has a very horrible childhood, and goes through all kinds of hell. You quickly want to fight for her, protect her, and shelter her. She grows up hardened and bitter, not caring too much about anyone other than her two best friends. She's hard pressed to insure that her surroundings, childhood, and circumstances turn into a stepping-stone of opportunity for her.
Throughout this book, I found myself going through several cycles of emotions; I cried, I cussed, I cheered, and I learned a little something. Without giving away the book or the ending, I will say that it reminded me that you can't just go through life, you have to grow through it. This book was very well written, the characters are well developed, and you can identify with them, and it has a twist towards the end that you don't see coming. I was truly in tears towards the end, and when I closed the book.
I am now a fan of Ben Burgess' work, and eagerly look forward to reading his other books. I would definitely recommend this book to others who are looking for a great read! ( )
