Carter tells the story, and he's a slightly clumsy man helping to put together care packages for the troops. He's never really considered what they do for the rest of the population, until he ran into an ex-soldier, Andrew, who lost one half of his right leg in the war. Ever since then he's been watching him, and today is the day he'll approach him. No, really!
Carter's shyness made me smile, he is just so cute as he tries to talk himself into talking to the object of his admiration. But it is Andrew who ends up taking the first step, and the conversation that ensues is hesitant but definitely clarifies the interest is mutual. I enjoyed reading it immensely!
If you like stories about hope and new beginning, if you enjoy reading about men who are real and each have a couple of issues, and if you're looking for a short, sweet read, then you will probably like this short story.
