I do love me some Dragos. ( )

Another great novella. When Dragos is injured and loses his memory, Pia pulls out all the stops to take care of her little boy and the demesne before she goes after her mate, who went full dragon.

Harrison pulled me right into their world and made me feel it all. Dragos might be the big bad, but Pia has serious skills and of course Liam shines his own personal light on it all.

I really love Pia. This story reminds us of how brave she is. How totally devoted she is to protecting her mate and family. It takes guts to walk up to an injured, grumpy dragon and ask if you can heal him. Well, guts and her unwavering belief in Dragos. I love every little bit of this family I get to see. And that little Peanut breaks my heart every time (He's a being a big solider for his mom and dad) Oh he makes me want to hug him forever.

It features Pia and Dragos from [b:Dragon Bound|9637479|Dragon Bound (Elder Races, #1)|Thea Harrison|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1312822853s/9637479.jpg|14524855] as they deal with the aftermath of an accident.

Essentially, this is your basic amnesia plot. Dragos is left without his memories after a construction site collapses on him. Without any knowledge of who he is, Dragos is dangerous and highly volatile. So, Pia takes it upon herself to help her husband regain his memories (or at least come down from the mountain where he’s taken refuge).

Harrison has featured Pia and Dragos a lot in the series, with several novellas and 2 full length novels dedicated to them. They're not my favorite Elder Races couple, but I enjoyed them here. Pia has enough angst around the situation to keep the story interesting and I liked that the resolution to the story wasn't entirely cut and dry.

All in all, This would be a good read for fans of the series looking for something quick to read. However, I wouldn’t recommend it as a standalone novella. It’s very short (clocking in around 100-ish pages) and a lot of the emotional impact relied on references/knowledge of past events in the series. However, if you read and enjoyed Dragon Bound you’ll probably find something to like here. ( )

An interesting character vignette, in PIA SAVES THE DAY our favorite couple face each other again, back at square one. The first time these two fell in love, Pia was the hunted. This time, she must use all her cunning to get close to a cranky, injured, amnesiac dragon… or lose the man of her dreams.

While part of me prefers DRAGOS TAKES A HOLIDAY, which shows Pia and Dragos amidst their happily ever after, balancing parenthood and politics and marriage as they grow closer together, PIA SAVES THE DAY addresses another key aspect to their relationship. While both Pia and Dragos have powerful shifter natures, Dragos’s earliest memory is surfing the solar waves at the birth of the universe. His present day personality is the culmination of eons of development, and in a power struggle, age-old, cunning, bloodthirsty dragon often could trump gentle, magical herbivore without breaking a sweat. It was very interesting to see how these two interacted with a few layers of Dragos’s civilization peeled back, and to experience their chemistry from a different starting point.

Don’t be fooled into thinking PIA SAVES THE DAY is a “what if” out-take that begins and resolves itself without casting ripples into the greater Elder Races world. While delving into these characters, Harrison allows events to have real and surprising implications for the future. A win-win for both romance and world building, PIA SAVES THE DAY is yet another excellent Elder Races novella to enjoy.
