A neat informational book on the awesome animals that live in our oceans. It explains over twenty types of sharks, as well as recognizing that there are over 400 types of sharks that actually exist! It also shows and describes the various types of teeth that you can find in certain sharks mouths (not that you want to!) It explains their unique characteristics and contains a lot of vibrant and detailed pictures of each shark.
Personal Reaction:
I am not a huge fan of sharks. I think they are neat and cool to learn about, but once you put a picture of their massive jaws and teeth in my face, I get a little intimidated. I really love how this book gives you information that is super useful such as where all the sharks live and they show you a map and highlight those areas.
Classroom Extension Ideas:
1. Assign each student a research project, for the different kinds of sharks. To add a little variety, make sure each student has only one shark, that way projects do no overlap. Grade the projects with a museum walk on the due date. ( )
