I still really enjoy the art and the characters in this series. However, the plot is a bit more out of control than it used to be. The early books seemed to tie the plot up nicely enough at the end of the individual books, even though there was still the main series plot left unresolved. In the case of the later books, however (including this one) I haven't really noticed any book-resolution to the plot. It's more of a pause between books instead of a conclusion. YMMV on if this annoys you, or how much. Personally, I find it a bit exhausting. ( )

I've never read any of these before and now I need to. I really enjoyed the art, the colors, and the huge and sprawling--yet completely understandable to a novice reader--storyline. ( )

Het slotdeel van de first journey of Agatha Heterodyne met helaas een redelijk open einde. Ik had een afronding verwacht waarbij voor in ieder geval een bepaald moment er een stabiele overwinnaar uit de bus zou komen rollen. Je kunt bij het laatste plaatje denken dat dit Klaus Wulfenbach is maar Agatha lijkt mij niet voldoende uitgeschakeld om Klaus als heerser over Mechanicsburg uit te kunnen uitroepen. Het eerste deel van de second journey of Agatha Heterodyne zal hier wel meer uitsluitsel over gaan geven.

In dit deel met de slapende stad wordt er weer behoorlijk gespeeld met elkaar redden. En er is een nieuwe speler in het spel namelijk een nieuwe strever naar de titel van Stormking genaamd Martellus. Een nietsontziende geweldenaar die meer sparks blijkt te hebben dan in eerste instantie zichtbaar is. En Tarvek moet dat bekopen met zijn leven? Het lijkt er wel op maar in Girl Genius weet je het nooit en zijn wel vaker doden weer levend geworden.

Ondertussen vlucht Agatha door een deur en blijkt zij in een winters landschap terecht te komen waar het plotsklaps tweeënhalf jaar later is dan in Mechanicsburg waar de tijd stil is blijven staan. Wanneer de monsters niet meer gek genoeg kunnen, doen ze het met het verhaal. En dan maar zien hoe dit allemaal weer bij elkaar kan komen.

Zoals zo'n beetje elk deel van Girl Genius weer in razende vaart een aaneenschakeling van over elkaar buitelende gebeurtenissen met een variété aan bijdehante opmerking makende personages. Ik kan er geen genoeg van krijgen. ( )

This is the 13th trade paperback in the Girl Genius series. This book was better than book 12 and ties up the Siege of Mechanicsburg story arc while starting a new one.

Castle Heterodyne is finally awakened and running at full capacity. Tarvek’s Cousin, Marcellus , tries to kidnap Agatha for his own nefarious purposes but the end results are very unexpected.

I really enjoyed watching Castle Heterodyne in its full awakened glory. I loved all the hilarity, the awesome traps, and the general chaos it caused. Agatha’s weasel dependence was also pretty darn hilarious.

We get to see a lot more of Agatha in this book and there are a lot more twists and turns in the story. I still have some trouble keeping track of who is who (especially with all of the Jagers) and would love a little chart of character pictures and descriptions.

I am still enjoying the brightly colored illustrations, crazy steampunk contraptions, and general mad science going on here. I don’t have a ton more to say about the book than that.

Overall this has been a great graphic novel series full of humor and steampunky goodness. I really enjoy the world, the characters, and the crazy plot. I would recommend to fans of steampunk or graphic novels with humor. This series has been a fun blend of science fiction, steampunk, fantasy, and humor elements. ( )

The next installment of Agatha and friends! It was over too fast. Things are never dull when you have a spark around and Agatha seems to attract them from the woodwork. Mechanicsberg has almost freed itself with the castle being restored to it's former glory when Wulfenbach pulls a sneaky.

Agatha is kidnapped another megalomaniac storm king into the future (by accident) and has a lot of catching up to do. Lucky for her Violetta and Krosp managed to sneak along and help her trying to get back to Mechanicsberg and free her city. ( )
