Animal comes back to the red with his new powers and defeats the totem and brother blood for good. Animal man becomes the new avatar and will eventually have to go to the seed world to take over as avatar. The book ends on a poignant story of the whole series told through a bedtime story.

That’s a wrap. Brother blood fight was a typical superhero mashup of movement through pages but never developed Brother blood as a real character which is Lemires strength...the book took a detour into a grand scale talking about the seedless world which I felt was unnecessary. I enjoyed more AM being beaten every time and he has to find inner strength or a deus ex machina to save him. Overall: the series started out very strongly but lost its footing when it started aiming for grand scale narratives which I felt took away from the sharp focus of human driven book about family and loved ones. The last issue was a great way to end the series and having romped through tons of stories and adventures we find out Cliff was reincarnated into a spider and was hanging out in His house where AM picks him up and says “Hi, Buddy”. A beautiful ending to a great series
