Ok, so I thought that Dragons Love Tacos was my favorite Rubin book, but this one? This one! Is the funniest book ever. Tell Wumpus to stop crying, he's in the best book ever. You hear that, Yerbert? Froofle? Mogo?

When a bubble pops, it doesn’t just disappear—it goes to torment the monsters in La La Land. Yerburt, Froofle, and Wumpus are terrified of bubbles, and Mogo is constantly warning his friends about the dangers that bubbles present. The monsters learn to use their unique abilities, their fangs, claws, and even their fingers, to get over their fear of the bubbles and live happily in La La Land. Well, until Mogo realizes that butterflies might be even worse than bubbles.

The idea of monsters being terrified of something as fun as a bubble is amusing and potentially inspiring for children who are afraid of many things. The book gives the reader the opportunity to help encourage the frightened monsters (“Tell Wumpus he can do it”). The illustrations are charming. The monsters and the other parts of the illustrations are against a dark background, but the monsters are charming instead of scary. Adults can talk with children about how scary things might not be that scary or about how it is important not to believe everything you hear. This is a silly and cute book that lovers of bubbles or monsters will likely enjoy. ( )

One of my favorite books of all time. It is entertaining, whimsical and just plain hilarious. Love the surprise ending! ( )

Big Bad Bubble is written and illustrated by Adam Rubin, Everybody/everything is afraid of something. The monsters in La La Land are afraid of the most terrifying thing imaginable, bubbles. Mogo the monster convinces his friends that bubbles are dangerous because of one that appeared out of nowhere and popped on him. It is up to some of the other monsters to convince him that they are not to be feared. It gives the kids a chance to be interactive, something all kids enjoy. ( )

I liked this book for two reasons. First was how well this illustration is drawn to enhance the story. The characters in the book is scary monster, but they are scared of bubbles. Contrast between scary monster and bubble that is nothing to children make this book even more fun to read. Not only the scene that monsters are scared of just one bubble seems funny, but where monsters had drawn bubbles with scary eyes and teeth will make students giggle. Second reason is that it pushes readers to think about tough issues that they might go through. Some students might scared of monsters, and think that they are also being scared of something would give them power to overcome their fear. ( )
