Not necessarily scary - just a good story. Some intense moments. There was some moisture near my eyeballs at the end but I'm not sure why. Not necessarily scary - just a good story. Some intense moments. There was some moisture near my eyeballs at the end but I'm not sure why. Interesting premise, but poorly executed in my opinion. My biggest qualm was that the characters were utterly devoid of personality, but nearly everything about this book was poorly done. The language was weirdly simple and the sentences unnaturally short. (which I would have forgiven in a kids' book, but this was presumably for adults.) The "creature" was never explained. The book was BORING. The dialogue stilted and weird. I never cared what happened, which was a good thing because nothing happened anyway. I dunno. I know I'm VERY much in the minority so take my opinion with a grain of salt. To me, this book was terrible. This book was very disappointing. I didn't find it creepy at all. I'm reminded about how I felt while reading Hell House, but with less eye-rolling. I guess unseen creatures that may or may not be real just don't do it for me.
Malerman overreaches a bit in his debut, which could use as much attention to the cast as to the mood, but the mood is chillingly effective. Kuuluu näihin sarjoihinBird Box (1) PalkinnotDistinctionsNotable Lists

HTML: Now a Netflix film starring Sandra Bullock, Trevante Rhodes, John Malkovich, Sarah Paulson, and Rosa Salazar! Written with the narrative tension of The Road and the exquisite terror of classic Stephen King, Bird Box is a propulsive, edge-of-your-seat horror thriller, set in an apocalyptic near-future worldâ??a masterpiece of suspense from the brilliantly imaginative Josh Malerman. Something is out there . . . Something terrifying that must not be seen. One glimpse and a person is driven to deadly violence. No one knows what it is or where it came from. Five years after it began, a handful of scattered survivors remain, including Malorie and her two young children. Living in an abandoned house near the river, she has dreamed of fleeing to a place where they might be safe. Now, that the boy and girl are four, it is time to go. But the journey ahead will be terrifying: twenty miles downriver in a rowboatâ??blindfoldedâ??with nothing to rely on but her wits and the children's trained ears. One wrong choice and they will die. And something is following them. But is it man, animal, or monster? Engulfed in darkness, surrounded by sounds both familiar and frightening, Malorie embarks on a harrowing odysseyâ??a trip that takes her into an unseen world and back into the past, to the companions who once saved her. Under the guidance of the stalwart Tom, a motely group of strangers banded together against the unseen terror, creating order from the chaos. But when supplies ran low, they were forced to venture outsideâ??and confront the ultimate question: in a world gone mad, who can really be trusted? Interweaving past and present, Josh Malerman's breathtaking debut is a horrific and gripping snapshot of a world unraveled that will have you racing to the f Kirjastojen kuvailuja ei löytynyt. |

OH MY GOD, this was awesome. I listened to the audiobook, and was just blown away. I’ve been harassing everyone I know who enjoys horror to go get this book. Apocalyptic, psychological, LONELY horror. Instantly on my permanent favorite list. Big win. (
