In this book, a family of worms are driving around to find a new home. In the many places they go, people are unhappy with them there and try to shoo them away, often yelling at them and throwing things at them. Eventually they decide to not move and show the world who they are, and this is when they meet some friendly neighbors that were like them. This book is a decent example of fantasy because while there are some things that are unrealistic, there are not many instances. In this book, the characters are worms, which shows the presence of inhuman characters. These worms are driving around looking for a new home and run into problems with neighbors- all realistic despite the fact that they are worms.
Age Appropriateness: Primary

This is a good read for a younger audience if you'd like to get into a discussion about kindness, prejudice, and what it means to give everyone a chance. These worms are turned away from place after place simply for being worms. They don't do anything to provoke the mistreatment that they encounter. They just are mistreated. This is an ideal moment to mention discrimination if you're interested in bringing that up. Not a bad book. ( )

This is a very fun book to read to your child. Not only does it contain a nice message of racial (species?) tolerance but also a lot of loud silly singing. Sure to inspire giggles. ( )
