Most of you should know by now I am a FAN of Ms. Spear. Her work is always a go to read for me. What I like most in her shifter books is that each story is unique. I never feel like I am re-reading the same thing over and over. It’s always fresh wither we are meeting old friends or new. Secondly I love that each character has their own personalities, quirky traits and fun loving family and friends. Third her writing flows effectively pulling the reader into the world, characters, and plot. And fourth each book can be read as a standalone. I always look forward to more of Ms. Spear shifter books!

I was so excited to finally get Gutherie MacNeill’s story. He was introduced in [b:Heart of the Highland Wolf|8583883|Heart of the Highland Wolf (Heart of the Wolf, #7)|Terry Spear|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1279244190s/8583883.jpg|13453162] along with all his brothers. I loved how he is so uptight and a stickler for finances that he will consume himself in work. I always wanted to find out what women would finally break him of his habit and pull him out of the work-a-holic shell.

Calla is introduced in [b:A Highland Werewolf Wedding|15826590|A Highland Werewolf Wedding (Heart of the Wolf, #11)|Terry Spear|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1344880974s/15826590.jpg|19120445] where we see her as Cearnach MacNeill’s friend. She runs a party planning business, so she is in the business of spending money which is the complete opposite of Gutherie. Calla is a strong character with a good head on her and great friends that help her find the mate she has been looking for.

Even if you have not read any of the other books you will not be missing out. The author does a fantastic job of filling you in on each character and relationships. I like the author’s sense of humor and the Scotland sense are breath taking. The romance building is sweet and I loved their first kiss. It was a heartfelt moment. We have some suspense in that Calla is being stalked, though that storyline was light and at times felt added just to push the story along.

If your new to paranormal romance, love alpha wolves, or a nice light read; then I recommend giving this book or any of Ms. Spear work's a try.

I wasn't able to read this in one sitting and while it was entertaining and full of holiday feeling it was just a nice read. Calla is being hounded by her ex who won't let her go and Guthrie starts off with a touch of Scrooge it quickly becomes apparent that isn't the case.

It took some time but finally the heroine realized that the man she loved and planned to marry was nothing better than a selfish controlling asshole who didn't deserve her. But apparently informing him that they were over and the wedding was cancelled doesn't compute because he's now constantly hounding her about taking him back. To escape the stalking, she's taken a job as a party planner for the McNeil werewolf pack's Christmas celebration. Surrounded by a functioning pack who consider themselves family and include her in their ranks with ease and open arms, the heroine finally feels like she belongs. It doesn't hurt things to be surrounded by sexy male wolves and the sexiest of all, the brother to the alpha and the man who's responsible for the pack finances. The hero himself just out of a bad relationship where the woman he loved dumped him for her ex leaving him rather broken heart. So despite how attracted he is to the heroine, it's no surprise how hesitant he is about courting her. What if she's treating him like another rebound and someone to get rid of when the ex comes back into the picture? But almost instantly he realizes that she isn't like that. Her ex is much more of a threat to her safety and well being as he constantly hounds her and stalks her to all her parties making threats. When it comes to light that he loaned her parents a ton of money without the packs knowing, the heroine is stuck in the position of trying to get him the money somehow so that he'll stop bothering her and move on with him life. At this point the hero and her can no longer fight the compulsion between them and they becomes mates and engaged to be married. The hero's pack gives her the money much to the heroine's shame. But nothing is ever that simple when dealing with a mad man and the hero realizes that it's finally time to put and end to the ex's abuse once and for all. I was hesitate to read this book because I know exactly how much I'm going to dislike the story and as much as I'd like to break tradition and say I found this one tolerable, alas it was yet another stinker. I couldn't for the life of me imagine what the hell the story was supposed to be about. Yes there's the ex boyfriend. Yes there's the hero and heroine's half assed attempt to deny their emotions. But the whole book was a dull, lifeless tale about...money? Nothing of any substance happened. The chemistry between the two characters was dull and boring. The plot was lazy and uninspired and most of all the werewolf traits that I usually adored were completely absent. These shifters have completely lost their animal nature and have become pussies. Honestly, it takes weeks for the ex to finally push the hero to action and even then he showed no true fury or rage over how his mate had been treated. An alpha male would have hunted him down the first chance he got and took care of business but the hero was too busy worrying about the heroine's spending and crunching numbers. Come on dude! Also a major problem I have with this series, besides the reasons listed about, is the completely non magical tradition of mating. Two people are not subject to the nature of their wolves to spend the rest of their lives together but rather it's a choice to whom one takes as a mate. Granted this probably more realistic but I crave the passion and the conflict of when two people just can't stop the magic between them. Boring lifeless story about nothing at all. Safe to say I suggest you skip this book. ( )

I like this series, but the ones that take place in Scotland are my favorite. It might have something to do with my obsession with men in kilts. In this one we finally get to read Guthrie and Calla's story. Guthrie is the last of the quadruple MacNiell brothers and the financial planner for the pack. Calla is a party planner and childhood friend of Guthrie's brother, Cearnach. These two are attracted to each other, but are trying to keep clear of each other since both are worried about being in rebound relationships. They were cute together and with all the mishaps that they dealt with a few were actually pretty funny. I liked that a lot of the pack are involved with this story and look forward to reading about more matings.

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. ( )
