This was a sweet Amish romance. Ruth’s husband has passed away and she is left to run her household with six kids! Oy! Lots of descriptions of household life, kids galore, the struggles of being a single parent with no income and the stresses of relying on the community after a death in the family. And then mysterious banana crates of food and presents begin appearing on the porch and Ruth and her children may have a mysterious benefactor. This was a sweet, quick read that I thoroughly enjoyed!

I feel bad that I did not this book as much as some Amish fiction because it was written by an Amish author. I think she might have tried too hard to let non-Amish readers know that they aren't totally out of touch with our world even if they are supposed to be set apart. I was surprised at all the product placement. I did enjoy reading about the surprise boxes on their porch and the handsome benefactor. ( )

The premise of this story is very good, but was a bit rushed to make it happen at Christmas.
A poor young widow with six little children, the youngest born after her husband died tragically. A 35 year old Amish bachelor, who just bought a big mansion in town. He is dating a Amish Teacher, and then??
The whole idea of this story is heartwarming, and loved the friendship that Ruth had with Mamie...who certainly was not the stereotype Amish. She will make you laugh, but is really a good friend, just a bit lazy.
This is one quick read, and can be read in an afternoon. Get ready for Christmas with a little love and romance....Amish style.

I received this book through Net Galley, and was not required to give a positive review. ( )
