The books in this series are very basic, short and fun. You learn customs, words, and hobbies with a couple of pages of dictionary words at the end of each. Romans books i believe are meant to spark an interest in kids....and enjoyment for this particular reader! This book is written for small children from Pre K to age eight to give them the experience of culture at an early age. The Series will take children on a mini tour around the globe to different countries and cultures. The books are simple and fun to read and have wonderful pictures as well. Each book examines what life would be like from the child's point of view if they were living in another country. This book is about France and is fun and easy for a child to grasp and also fun. I think it's a great series to own and will be great in a pre school setting as well for teaching small children some geography and culture. They will be surprised to learn new words for things that they know such as Maman and Papa is for Mommy and Daddy in France. That's just the beginning of a whole new world for children when they get a chance to learn how other cultures around the globe live. This exciting new children's series written by Carole P. Roman, focuses on learning about and appreciating the many cultures that make up our small planet. Interesting facts and colorful illustrations help children to realize that although the world is large, people all over the globe are basically the same. Perfect for children from Pre-K to age eight. I enjoyed reading this series, myself. In my opinion, each book teaches children about new cultures effortlessly - in a way that is entertaining and fully captures a child's attention. I give the whole series a definite A+! I am enjoying this series because I have learned so much. I learned about the first city in Europe to use gas street lamps. I had never thought about that before. Readers will learn who designed the Eiffel Tower. They will discover the wonderful things you can fill a crepe with and discover what Bastille Day is. ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu

I enjoyed learning the small number of French words. It’s a picture book and some authors overdo it by having too many hard or unknown words. Author, Carole P. Roman, does not overdo it with her writing.
On the downside, I feel that having been to France, more landmarks and architecture could have been mentioned that kids would be interested in. For instance Notre-Dame Cathedral, kids may recognize from Disney movie The Hunchback Of Notre Dame. I guess I wanted the book a little longer. The pages run a little on the low side for a picture book. The typical is 32 pages where this was 28.
This is another wonderful addition to the If You Were Me And Lived In… series. So many places to learn from and so much information to share. Almost an endless supply of writing. I look forward to the next book. ( )
