This is one of the first fiction books I read about Alzheimer's. I absolutely loved Lillie Claire and the way she handled herself in the face of things she didn't always understand.. We were able to see right inside her mind to see what she was thinking and felling. There wasn't as much interaction with other characters as I might normally find, but bless her heart, the way Lillie Claire treated "her woman" Jewel seemed very true to life. She wasn't racist, but she treated her with just enough distance that you could tell she had come from a time and a place where there was a boundary between someone hired to serve ("the help"") and the person whom they were serving.

I've read this book several times, and I know I haven't read it for the last time. Fantastic, Auburn! ( )
