Since it was revised in 1996, the macro section is getting a bit dated. While this can be a good thing (it covers the Phillips curve, whereas the "modern" text we used this semester doesn't even graph it once), I'd be careful about relying on this book as my only study resource for macro. I also couldn't find a mention of the long-run neutrality of money in the index or table of contents. Macro courses do vary widely in emphasis, but this is a basic topic I'd expect to find in any macro text.
For micro, all the core topics I'd expect to find in an intro course are here. Note, however, that the indifference curve approach to utility is not included. For many, perhaps most, intro level classes this will not be a problem; but if your school teaches the course at a relatively high level, you might be better off with the intermediate-level Schaum's Outline of Microeconomic Theory.
There are plenty of solved problems to work for self-study. But I was hoping to assign this book as a source of problems for students to solve and present in class, and unfortunately it doesn't include any unsolved problems. ( )
