Un día apareció un león en la biblioteca. El Señor Mosquera corrió a avisar a la bibliotecaria, la Señora Plácida, pero ella, sin alterarse lo más mínimo y siempre dentro de su estricta apariencia, le dijo que si el león no había quebrantado ninguna de las reglas de la biblioteca no había motivo para echarle de allí.

El león, después de pasearse por todas las salas, decidió quedarse en el rincón del cuentos y allí se durmió. Cuando llegó la hora del cuento la Cuentacuentos, muy nerviosa, comenzó a contar los cuentos que tenía preparados para ese día. El león escuchó los cuentos uno tras otro con mucha atención pero cuando terminó el último el león no se conformó como el resto de los niños. El quería seguir escuchando cuentos y, como no había más, rugió. Entonces la bibliotecaria apareció y le dijo que rugir no estaba permitido en la biblioteca. Si quería seguir allí debería estar en silencio. Los niños, que ya le habían tomado cariño al león, le preguntaron a la señora Plácida que si podría quedarse el león si prometía guardar silencio y la bibliotecaria no vió problema en que el león, calladito, volviera para la hora del cuento. Y así fue, aunque cada día el león iba más pronto y es por ello que la bibliotecaria decidió que el león le ayudara con algunas tareas de la biblioteca.

When a lion wanders into library story time, no one is sure what to do. They decide that as long as he can follow the rules, he can stay. After all, he's a great back rest for the kids during story time! One day, the lion has to break the rules to get Mr. McBee's attention when the librarian, Ms. Merriweather, takes a fall. After a misunderstanding and harsh words from Mr. McBee, the lion leaves the library. After all, he had broken the rules. The lion did not return to the library for many days and he was very missed. When the misunderstanding is cleared up, Mr. McBee decides to right his wrong and lets the lion know that roaring in the library in an emergency is okay. Finally, the lion returns, and all is well. This a heartwarming story with soothing illustrations that celebrate the love of libraries and story time. The book is appropriate for pre-K-3. ( )
