A beautiful installment full of rich worldbuilding and action that takes us to the very heart of the West March. I've really enjoyed the two book trip outside of Elantra, and am excited to return to it in the next installment. Sagara has a masterful grasp on when to bring the story out of the established formulaic and into something new and exciting.

Also? Still super in love with unnamed SMOL not-really-glass dragon! *swOOn*

Definitely give it a read! (

I love Michelle Sagara and I will forgive her novels many shortcomings simply because her stories intrigue me so much. that being said I think she writes the slowest moving romances EVER. The world these characters inhabit fascinates me and even after all the books in this series I still feel rather clueless as to how it works which is actually a good thing I think. The biggest negative for me is that I have to wait a whole year for the next book. (

Here are my some of my favorite lines for this thrilling installment to the Chronicles of Elantra series :

1.
"I’m always careful.”
“I cannot believe the things you can say with a perfectly straight face. That was serious, wasn’t it?”

2.
Climbing was one of her strengths, but she didn’t do it with grace—which, come to think, was an apt description of the way she lived the rest of her life, as well.

3.
He roared, but she’d pretty much had enough; she roared back.

Ah. Kaylin provides no boredom. As always, she's a delight to read. (

I do enjoy this series. I had to recheck this out because it came in when I had a bunch of other books and having difficulty reading. So glad I rechecked it out! (

Kaylin frustrated me a bit on this installment.
Khristine Hvam does an excellent job as a narrator... as always. (
