This book started out strong and the idea of someone not standing up for a display of patriotism is certainly relevant today. However, towards the middle to second third of the book, Arnold’s life on the lam started to become a little unbelievable. The Man Who Wouldn’t Stand Up is a mix of life and unpredictability. Starting with the main character not standing up at a baseball game the storyline of the character then spirals down as he is then labeled as a terrorist and goes into hiding. These spirals leave the reader confused as the main character is taken to extremes such as becoming a nude bandit. The end of the book is just that an ending that lacks emotion and closure for the reader.
