The first reason that I liked this book is because the illustrations supported the story by being relevant to what was written on that page. I also appreciate that in scenes that truly could have been bloody and too violent for children are done in such a way that one can appreciate the simplicity of the pictures. For example on page 60 there is a scene from the war where people are seen with weapons and have fallen on the ground, however there is no actual blood drawn but is depicted by the background being a blood red color. Another reason that I liked this book is because it is written in a sequence style by progressing from the love story, to the stolen love, to the war, and finally wrapping up with Achilles death. The big idea of this book is to introduce Achilles and the world of Greek mythology to children. This book also points to the idea or heroism and that in times of great need, people turn to their leaders for help. ( ) I really like the illustrations in this book. They are very colorful and the illustrator uses a little bit of duller colors they you would expect in that time frame. I also really like how descriptive the book is. For example on page 74 it says "Inside his painted palace, old Priam, the white-bearded father of Troy, say on his throne as still and silent as a statue." This allow the readers to picture the setting, the character, and the action. näyttää 2/2 ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu
