Disclaimer: I received this book from LibraryThing's early reviewer program in exchange for an honest review. I identified with the author early on in this book, although we ended up taking separate paths, the initial impetus was much the same. I've read this a couple of times, and will end up reading it a couple more, a good read for the middle aged person wondering what it's all about. This review was written for LibraryThing Member Giveaways. I was concerned that author Preeti Gupta would be too preachy, but her writing is very talented, clinical, and even-keeled. She is open minded, and while her writing is fantastic, the book did not hold the reader to the story. It was more of a declaration; maybe even a review. Somewhere between the textbook genre, and a novel. It made the topics of religion, spirituality and faith accessible (and funny!), but the tone is lacking definition. I would recommend it to friends interested in broadening their knowledge, but I'm not sure for what other purpose. This review was written for LibraryThing Member Giveaways. Interesting thinking. I can relate to much of what she says. Preeti is a deep thinker and can express her thoughts well. I can totally agree with soul energy. I’m not into the whole God thing, but since it only gave that idea 3 chips, I thought would give it a read. Cute sense of humor and a wonderful open mind. I grew up in the 70’s and those questions were always a topic. Drove me nuts. I would get up and leave. They are back today with better ideas than the 70’s God run. Well written. This review was written for LibraryThing Member Giveaways. This is a book that discusses karma and questioning your spirituality. The author talks about her personal journey and beliefs. This is a good starter book if you are questioning religion. ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu

This book was utterly delightful. [a:Preeti Gupta|839716|Preeti Gupta|http://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1350084096p2/839716.jpg] takes a casual look at the different philosophies of various religions in order to convey her own views of what spirituality entails. While a heady topic, [a:Preeti Gupta|839716|Preeti Gupta|http://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1350084096p2/839716.jpg] writes with all the humor of a book such as [b:He's Just Not Into You|10412|He's Just Not That Into You The No-Excuses Truth to Understanding Guys|Greg Behrendt|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1348679526s/10412.jpg|822184] and it comes off as more a casual conversation than a book. The asides are hilarious, the perspective no-nonsense, and the message a truly wonderful one. I have to admit, I laughed a great deal.
The book suffered from a few typos, easily enough fixed, and a questionable cover - but we don't judge a book by that, right? I think this book is an excellent primer for anyone interested in spirituality and wanting to ponder what they believe and why. This isn't a book for someone more interested in the scholastic side of theology, the debates about meaning and intention and all of that. This is a book for the practical person, one who wants to learn how to actively invite a more fulfilling life based upon.. well, hedging your bets. Want to learn how to invoke more good Karma than bad without meditating? Well, this book has some good ideas. ;) ( )
