I'm going to do my usual series disclaimer, now, and beg you to stop reading this review if you haven't read up to the fourth book. Bye-bye, babes. I'll wait. Ok, we're about to get into this (seriously, you've been warned). At the end of Origin, all hell broke loose. In an attempt to outsmart the Department of Defense, the known Luxen and some of the Origins (oh, yeah, and the Hybrids) had combined forces to stage this Vegas Strip worthy distraction to bust a road block out of the city. It didn't really go as planned (does anything ever in this series?). So, now, the rest of the Luxen have arrived on Earth and they are not happy. Nor are they like our sweet, sexy bands of triplets everyone has come to know and love over the course of the series. Most of the newer, invading Luxen are these empathy-less glowworms, hell bent on doing the usual alien things: body snatching, pod people, and the like. As is the apparent requirement for sci-fi adventure books, the central crew tasked with saving the world is made up of members of all competing parties. So, we've got humans, hybrids, D.O.D. members, Luxen, Origins, and a few Arum, banding together against every respective party, praying the world doesn't go to crap. The ending, well, I'll let you find that out for yourself. Let me just say that I have been eyeball deep in aliens and this sorry for weeks with all of the twists and turns and even I didn't see the end coming. I basically finished and wanted to go sprinting back to the beginning. ** spoiler alert ** I read the first 4 books back to back and got bored which seems to happen when I read too many of a series at the same time. I have waited so long to start Opposition, I thought I would never get into this again or want too. However; I am glad I took a break, as I'm enjoying getting back into the characters and plot so much more than I was in the last 2 books. Where I found the last two books a little boring and dragging on, this book starts with a bang. It has a nice pace and so much is happening. You will fly through this. I still have the same feelings as I previously did, as I do feel this did not need to be a 5 book series. I think it would have been even better if it was maybe only 3. I love Daemon and I continued to love Daemon in this final book. Katy was again just blah to me, but you did start to see some of the independent and strong characteristics she brought in book one. The plot, again, had some Twilight similarities which goes back to the first book as well. I also was a little disappointed in the ending of the War. It just kinda ended. There could have been more brought to the scenes with the Arum saving the world in the end. This is marked as an YA book, but be mindful that this does have several sex scenes. I would not allow younger teens to read this series. JLA writes some steamy novels under J. Lynn and you can see that trying to come through in parts of this series. Also, this represented some issues that our world is facing today, and I liked that tie in into the plot. I will always be thankful to this series as it was the first Jennifer L. Armentrout books I read, and she has quickly become one of my favorite authors. I will say, her other work has blown this series away though and I am glad I tried some of her other work. näyttää 5/5 ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu

Katy knows that the world changed the night the Luxen came. She can't believe that Daemon welcomed his race or stood by as his kind threatened to obliterate every last human and hybrid on Earth. But the lines between good and bad have blurred, and love has become an emotion that could destroy her-could destroy them all. Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal. He and Katy must team up with an unlikely enemy if there is any chance of surviving the invasion. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe and the world begins to crumble around them, they may have to sacrifice everything-even what they cherish most-to ensure the survival of their friends . . . and mankind. Lux #4
Hundreds or maybe thousands of Luxen just arrived on Earth and Daemon, Dawson and Dee just left with them without even looking back.
These new Luxen, aliens originally from the Planet Lux, are cold and unfeeling. They all think as one like a hive. Their goal is to take over the world and Katy isn't sure whose side Daemon is on now.
Cities are being destroyed and Luxens are killing humans like they are ants. Luxen are stealing certain human bodies and taking on their appearances, mainly people in powerful positions and people who are of childbearing years. Humans are panicked and the government is considering drastic measures.
Katy might have to turn to the very people who tortured her to save the planet, the good Luxen and herself.
My anxiety was at peak levels while reading this final book of the series. This author must be related to George R.R. Martin because throughout the series, she has had no qualms about killing off beloved characters. I was afraid to see who else might die.
I was sad that this was the last book of the series. I'll have to look at what else is out there by Jennifer L. Armentrout.
