Callie Taylor is an average 31 year old teacher when her recently deceased mother's best friend informs her that her mother has been keeping a secret about her father. She learns that her father is not dead like she thought but he is in fact presidential hopeful and senator Warren Sherbrookes. This throws Callie's world off balance throw in a sexy Adonis Brit and Callie's world is thrown in a tailspin. Dylan Talbot is instantly suspicious when all of the sudden his step father gets a letter informing him that he had a daughter. He intends to get to the bottom of this to she if in fact he is her father and what she wants from Warren. When Dylan meets Callie he can see the family resemblance to his siblings and believes in fact she is Warren's daughter. They both feel instant attraction towards each other and over the course of a few visits he knows Callie is no threat toWarren and he doesn't need to be around but he can't get her out of his head. When Warren's campaign manager asks Dylan to keep an eye on Callie he jumps at the opportunity to spend more time with her. After realizing they have many common interest and have an ease around the other their relationship blooms into something other than friendship. Dylan has been burned before and tries to keep Callie at arms length emotionally but when he is around her he can't seems to feel anything but love and contentment for her. Things go bad when Callie finds out that Dylan has been hanging out with her to make sure she did not spill about being Warren's Daughter even though for him it was not about that. Their brother Jake (I know weird but he is half brother to both) convinces Dylan that Callie is not his ex and that he is in love with her, he realizes that he must fight for the woman he loves. It ends nicely with the couple marring and most of the family accepting her as family (except her sister Sara) and are happy for the two of them. I love the character and plot development. The book was well paced and no point felt rushed or bogged down. The main characters were endearing felt instantly comfortable reading about them. The romance itself is not bad, although a bit old-fashioned ('90s), but it’s full of grammar and spelling mistakes. To name just a few: so many commas missing that often I had to read the sentence twice or more to make sense of it; Jane Austin (seriously, a romance author who can't spell her name?); a piece of hair; a man that... This was a charming romance, a light, fun summertime read. The characters were well developed and this was a great start to the new series, can't wait to read more. Callie has her whole life turned upside down with the revelation of who her father is and Dylan is suspicious and trying to protect his stepfather and family. They both find love unexpectedly and it is almost lost when Callie discovers Dylan's reasons behind spending time with her. Ahhh but honesty prevails.... It’s hard to lose your only parent. Callie lost her mother. When her mother passed, she left revealing a death bed secret. Callie never knew her father. She was told he died in an accident. Just as she was feeling all alone in the world, her mother’s friend Helen drops in. Her visit isn’t a casual one. Helen promised Callie’s mother that she would tell Callie a secret that would change the foundation of her whole life. Kuuluu näihin sarjoihinSisältyy tähän:

The story could have been fleshed out a little more and included more interaction between Callie's new family and a little bit more about the impact of a new found daughter was on the father's campaign.
Overall a sweet, summer read. I'd consider reading more of this author's work. (
